6 Places to Watch the Sunset in Mallorca

From beaches and lighthouses to charming little villages, the final moments of the day can be the most memorable.

Ask any Mallorcan where their favourite spot is to watch the sunset and you probably won’t get the same answer twice. Every part of the island has a special place where the end of the day is experienced in its own way.

We’ve selected six spots across Mallorca that stand out for their views, surroundings and the experience they offer. Some are well known; others invite you to discover the island from a different perspective.

Sant Elm: Watch the Sun Set Behind Sa Dragonera

Sant Elm is one of those places where time seems to slow down as evening falls. It offers privileged views of the island of Sa Dragonera, creating one of Mallorca’s most recognisable silhouettes as the sun disappears beyond the horizon.

It’s worth arriving early. Before sunset, you can stroll along the seafront, enjoy a drink at one of the terraces, such as AQUA Beach Club, or take one last swim in its calm waters.

Local tip

Stay for a few minutes after the sun has disappeared. The colours of the sky often become even more intense, making the atmosphere even more special.

If you want to enjoy this corner of Mallorca without needing a car, Universal Hotel Aquamarin and Universal Aparthotel Don Camilo are excellent options, just a short walk from the seafront.

Ses Salines Lighthouse: Where Mallorca Ends

Located at the southernmost tip of the island, Ses Salines Lighthouse offers a completely different landscape. Here, the open sea takes centre stage, along with the sound of the waves and the feeling of being in one of the wildest corners of Mallorca.
It’s the perfect spot for those looking for a peaceful sunset away from the crowds, with an open horizon and privileged views towards the Cabrera Archipelago Maritime-Terrestrial National Park.

Local tip

If you visit the lighthouse in summer, bring some water and a light layer. Although it can be hot during the day, the wind can pick up as evening falls.

You can combine your visit with an afternoon at Es Trenc or the beaches around Colònia de Sant Jordi. Universal Hotel Marqués and Universal Grand León & Spa are two excellent options for exploring this area of southern Mallorca.

Puig de Sant Salvador: 360º Panoramic Views

At more than 500 metres above sea level, Puig de Sant Salvador offers some of the most spectacular panoramic views in Mallorca. From the summit, you can see large parts of the island, with the sea stretching out in the background.
Sunset from this viewpoint has a special charm: the light gradually changes across the landscape, offering a completely different perspective from the coast.

Local tip

Check the weather forecast before heading up. On clear days, the views extend across much of the island.

If you stay at Universal Hotel Perla or Universal Hotel Bikini, you can reach it quickly.

Port de Sóller: Sunset Between Sea and Mountains

Few places combine the coastal landscape and the Serra de Tramuntana as beautifully as Port de Sóller. Its bay, sheltered by the mountains, creates a unique setting for saying goodbye to the day as boats slowly return to the harbour.
After sunset, it’s worth taking a stroll around the port or having dinner at one of its restaurants overlooking the sea.

Local tip

If you can, visit during the week or outside the busiest months to enjoy the port at a more relaxed pace.

Es Trenc: A Classic That Never Disappoints

Es Trenc is one of Mallorca’s most iconic beaches. Its white sand and crystal-clear waters make it a privileged spot for watching the day come to an end.
As the sun begins to set, the beach becomes much quieter and the landscape takes on a particularly warm glow.

Local tip

Stay until after sunset. With fewer people on the beach, the atmosphere changes completely, allowing you to enjoy one of the quietest moments of the day.

If you’d like to stay just a few minutes from Es Trenc, Universal Hotel Marqués is ideally located for exploring this stretch of coastline.

Playa de Palma: Sunset with a Mediterranean Vibe

If you prefer to end the day with a seaside stroll and plenty of restaurants and terraces to choose from, Playa de Palma is a safe bet. Its long seafront promenade lets you watch the light change as the Mediterranean accompanies the final moments of the day.

It’s the perfect option for combining sunset with dinner by the sea or enjoying the lively atmosphere that characterises this part of the island. You can also watch the sunset while enjoying a drink at our Joy Palace restaurant.
